A Conversation with Jared Flood
October 27 (Sat.)

Join Jared Flood for an early evening discussion about knitting, wool and producing American made yarns. Jared will share the story about how he fell into the world of knitting, his love for wool, and his experiences starting a US-grown and produced yarn company. Reception with wine & light hors d'oeuvres to follow.
Jared Flood is a knitwear designer and photographer based in
Jersey
City, New Jersey and holds an MFA from the New York Academy
of Art.
Originally from Tacoma, WA, he has taught traditional
handknitting
techniques and garment construction around the world. His
designs and
writings have appeared in Interweave Knits, Vogue Knitting,
and Spin Off as well as in other publications and online. In
2005 he moved to Brooklyn and began writing a blog under the
name Brooklyn Tweeds about knitting and designing which
became a huge success. Jared launched his own line
of yarns in 2010 called Shelter and has recently added a
fingering-weight
line called Loft. His idea was to create a yarn that would
be designed, grown and spun in the US. He chose Harrisville
Designs to produce his yarns.
