The Magic of Felting
- Sharron Parker
May 22 - 24 (Tues. - Thu.)

Explore the possibilities of color, texture and form through the medium of handmade felt. We will work with dyed, unspun wool and do wet felting (with a little needle felting thrown in). The emphasis will be on flat felts, but boxes and vessels are an option. Nothing too precious and masterpieces are forbidden – the idea is to play, experiment and express your artistic impulses with this wonderful medium. No experience necessary.
Sharron Parker is a studio artist in Raleigh, NC.
She became a feltmaker in 1980, after seeing 2500-year-old felts
from an archaeological dig in Siberia. Since then, she has developed
her own approach to the medium, creating wall pieces with an
emphasis on color and texture.
Her work has be exhibited throughout the US and internationally through the Art in Embassies program with images appearing in 500 Felt Objects and 1000 Artisan Textiles.
