Your Own Yarn From Your Own Wool
From the beginning of our business in 1971, we have been offering a custom spinning service to enable small wool growers to convert their own wool into yarn with as little as 400 pounds in grease wool weight or as little as 200 pounds of clean wool. We do not pool wools from different growers and we guarantee that the yarn we deliver will have been spun exclusively from the wool you send us. We request a minimum quantity of 400 pounds grease weight or 200 pounds of washed, grease-free wool, and suggest a staple length in the range of two to five inches. If you send us white wool in the grease, processing time can run from six to twelve weeks, depending on how quickly the scouring house can move the wool along. You should figure on approximately 45% loss in scouring and 5% loss in spinning.

Our scourer will not handle any colored wools, but we can refer you to a place that will handle these wools in small quantities. Once we have your scoured wool, we can spin your yarn in three to six weeks. Please be aware that although a good deal of vegetable matter will fall out in the carding process, some of it will be left in your yarn. So send us wool that is as free of burrs and plant material as you can get it.

We do not buy wool outright nor do we trade wool for yarn or other products made from wool or from pooled wools. Our service is to convert your wool into your own yarn.
